OUR IMPRESSIONS
These are Piotrek's impressions after the trip to Italy
My impressions after that trip are very positive. Our journey to Cava took a lot of time and was pretty exhausting, but very interesting, especially the flight - which was the first in my life.
Italian people are very hospitable, and I noticed that as early as we arrived in Salerno from where we were taken to Cava by two Italian teachers - they were very nice to us, and we didn't
have to look for them at the station, because they found us first.
When we arrived in Cava, we didn't have to wait long for the families, which were supposed to take care my friend and me.
The family I stayed with were very kind, friendly, hospitable and generous to me.
Their lifestyle is pretty much different from my family's - they spend more time with each other at home, because they have housekeeper who helps them.
Italian lifestyle is also different, because Italian people enjoy nightlife more than the "day life" - streets at night are always crowded. The weather throughout the whole week was great - always warm and sunny. That was a very nice change from the Polish weather in autumn. I have seen a great many beautliful things, like monuments, other cities such as Salerno, Naples, Rome, and especially beautiful sea. All those things made a great impression on me.
The Italian cuisine is like a paradise for me - pizza, spaghetti, pasta prepared in hundred different ways, ice creams, everything was delicious. We also have interesting cuisine, but we prefer simpler dishes like potatoes with pork chops or soups like a broth or tomato soup.
Students from other countries were very nice, their knowledge of English was greater than mine, but that wasn't a problem, and we were able to chat a lot, and that was a great pleasure for me and for them (at least I think so).

Impressions from Cava by Lukasz Plinta
Housing
The houses in Italy are different from houses in Poland. The first thing is that there are no curtains in the windows, it is so strange for me. Also, you don’t have to take off your shoes when you enter the house.
Weather
In Italy the weather is so beautiful. It’s warm and it doesn’t rain, like in Poland. The Italian climate is different from Polish, you feel better in Italy because the weather is so much better than Polish cold climate.
Lifestyle
The Italians are not like the Poles. The thing which surprised me most was that they start classes at 815! They have more time to sleep, because we start at 730. They go to the parties every day. They have fun all the time, at school, at home, in the streets. At nights they meet friends and they don’t worry about the next day.
Food
The Italian food is very good. It’s the first time I saw that the Italians don’t eat breakfast but they eat a lot for lunch. I like spaghetti and pizza very much. I didn’t have enough time and money to try every Italian dish but I’d love to do it in future.
Traffic
The traffic in Italian cities is much heavier than in small Czechowice - Dziedzice. In Cava there are so many cars. I don’t like it. There is too much noise which is annoying.

My impressions after the trip to Finland - Edyta
The flight to Finland lasted 1,45 h. This was my first flight and it was attractive to me.
Aino’s dad took me from the airport . It took about 1 hour to get to Nummi – Pusula.
The family I stayed with were very nice and hospitable: Aino’s dad speaks a little Polish and it astonished me, Aino’s mum was very friendly for me, and Aino was very nice and we made friends quickly.
The Finns have different style of life, they spend a lot of time together.
The school astonished me because the classes were small and the classrooms were very well equipped.
The trips that we had were interesting, especially to Turku and Helsinki. The cities are large and beautiful, there are a lot of shops and cafes in the centre.
I won’t forget the visit to the museum of tractors, the farm and the dairy museum. Throughout the week we had fantastic weather which was also surprising because I’d heard that Finland was a cold country.
In Finland I got to know a lot of interesting people from different places who told us about life in their countries.
It was wonderful in Finland, I hope to visit it again soon!

My impressions after the trip to Finland - Magda
My impressions after that trip are very good. Our flight from Warsaw to Helsinki took about 1hour and 45 minutes and it was very exciting. Our Finnish friends took us from Helsinki airport to Nummi-Pusula, the trip took about 1 hour.
The family in which I stayed was very nice, friendly, hospitable and generous to me. Their house was closed to forest an lake. It was a very beautiful view. In every house there was a sauna, which was surprising for me because in Poland we don’t have this. Finnish lifestyle is pretty much different from mine. They spend more time with each other. They have a big farm, so they try to help each other. However a big town is very different, the streets is always full of people, there are a lot of shops, restaurants. The weather through the whole week was great . It was always sunny and warm. The food was delicious; I have seen lots of beautiful things, monuments, and other cities like Helsinki or Turku. I met there a lot of interesting people from other countries. They were very friendly to us. I had wonderful time in Finland, and I will never forget it.

My impressions after the trip to Finland - Slawek
Hi. My name is Sławek Kuś. I’m 18 years old. I was in Finland on 7th May 2006.
For the first time in my life I flew by plane. It was wonderful although I was terrified. After the arrival we were greeted by two Finnish teachers and some host families. They were very nice people. Next I went with Korppijakko family to their house. They live in a very beautiful area. Alex’s family have a very beautiful, big and very comfortable house. I stayed with Alex in his nice room. When we got to their house
I was tired. I went to the bathroom and I used sauna. It was very warm. Next, we had good supper and after that I went to sleep. So that is how the first day in Korppijakko family passed. The next day looked very promising. Of course, I was nervous, because that was the first time in Finnish school. But it was really nice. Alex with his friends took care of us. After ‘classes’ we went home where we had dinner. Then, we played games. I felt in my element. It was difficult to fall asleep at night because it was very warm. The next day was very interesting too because we went to Helsinki. Helsinki is the capital of Finland. It is beautiful. There are a lot of very interesting places: shops, historic buildings, squares and a very beautiful gulf joint with the sea. The free time that we had in Helsinki was the best. All together we went to the merchant house. Next, we all went to sit down in the grass near the city centre. We stayed there about 3 hours and then we caught the bus back to Nummi-Pusula. When we arrived there, we went all together to Alex’s house for supper. We were treated to delicious food cooked by Alex’s mother. After supper we dispersed to our own houses. Alex and I went to sleep immediately. Wednesday was the second day we spent at Nummi-Pusula school. We gave presentations about our countries and schools. As usual, I was quite stressed but it was not so bad. I think that our presentation about our country was really good. Other presentations were also good. Next, we worked on the project. It was a hard day. When we got home I went to sleep. The next day was the second interesting day because we went to Turku. It was nice but Helsinki was much better. I don’t know why. Maybe because there are more interesting places in Helsinki than in Turku. After our arrival back in Nummi-Pusula we all went to Aino’s house. We all sat in her house and we ate Finnish dainties. We spoke and learnt some words in different languages. It was nice. Friday was a parting – day. We worked on our nationality projects. Next we went to Laura’s house. There was a farewell party. Oh my God, it was splendid. It lasted 7 hours. Alex and I went home very tired so we quickly went to sleep. Saturaday was a very sad day because we had to leave our host families. I almost wept. It was a very sad day. All Saturday we spent in Helsinki where we stayed in a youth hostel. We took a boat trip round the gulf. It was very windy. I must say that it was a very nice but also very long Saturday. The next day, on Sunday, we went to the airport and at 2.30 p.m. we flew back to Warsaw. I miss Finland a lot. Hopefully, one day I can visit it again. It’s a pity that such travel is very expensive.
